The first day of wedding dress shopping! Megan, Lisa, and I, went armed with paper, pens, a camera, and a pile of wedding dress store addresses and maps made on Streets2000. We hit Camas’s new store first, and then drove into Vancouver. We hit probably 5 stores before ending up at Nancy’s Touch of Silk on Broadway downtown Vancouver. We had an appointment there, and found a great selection of dresses. They let us put a special color of clothes pins on the dresses I wanted to try on, and then helped me in them one at a time. The girls tried on a few bridesmaid dresses while we were there as well, and so as I’d come out with a dress on, they were trying others on. I’m scanning in some sketches that Megan and Lisa made, and then the copy that I made afterwards of my favorite dress. I tried on 3 that I liked. But I can't share the details that I wrote in here until *after* the wedding! :)
We decided that a summer wedding would be best because we have so many friends and family who are still in school. My dream has always been for a spring wedding, but only because I love the spring. Just thinking about it makes me think of the blossoms on the tree in front of our house and how beautiful they looked falling off…. That makes me think I must have flower petals from a little flower girl at my wedding.
My sisters, Megan and Lisa, and I went to a Bridal Show in Portland. We wanted to get some starting ideas for the wedding before we did any planning, and this was a great way to start. I’d totally recommend it to anyone because we were able to see all the many things that would need to be planned. Some of the ideas were silly, like dancing DJs and very obnoxious videographers. But other things were great like that delicious bread we tasted at one booth, and some invitation ideas from the Paper Depot with Velum.
I told my parents today. They seemed genuinely happy for us, and I’m really glad for that. I’m wearing my ring on the necklace because its too big. My fingers are too small, that must be it <giggle>
Eric asked me to marry him! What a wonderful way to start off the new millennium! He popped the question first thing in the morning, and gave me a beautiful ring – its kinda like a round flower with the diamond as the center of it – see the picture here. The picture doesn’t capture the beautiful sparkley glow very well, though, but you can get the idea!!
