Another site that likes our site :-) Here's their engagement announcements (which I submitted) Wedding-Club.com But, also they said that I am a Cool Wedding Site award winner for August, and they will put me up indefinately on the August page :-) YEA!!! :-) These things make me happy for the work on this page. Well, I just love this page anyhow, so I'm happy anyhow LOL! :-) Just thought I'd share!
I'm kinda nervous - I have my first fitting today for my dress - what if it doesn't fit?! I'll let you all know how it goes :-)
I'm making lists of lists and trying to stay organized. We are working on finalizing the list for reception food this week, as well as get the cake and photographer squared away. I need to make another run through my flower list and place the order for the flowers and also for the dripless tapers from Illuminations.com They have a really nice website, and appear to be able to get me what I need for tapers in the candelabras :-)
Megan and I are going shopping for dresses to wear to my cousin Laura's wedding in Florida. While we are out doing that, we are gonna get me white ballet slippers to wear in my wedding :-) I'm excited about that :-) I am still debating on the nylon/no nylon debate. I'm guessing that unless I was going barefoot, nylons would probably be better, but its gonna be so hot!!! I'm gonna want a clipon fan to attach under my dress <.giggle.>
So many things to post!
* Last week, Lisa and I got all of the invitations put together and sealed in envelopes. So yesterday at lunch, they went out in the mail!! :-)
I also got my flower test shipment from 2G Roses and they were gorgeoous! Lisa and I learned to wire and tape flowers, and our efforts turned out nicely. The only thing that went bad with the flowers was that the centers of the daisies were greenish yellow - they weren't really yellow enough until last night. So I may call them on that - to make sure that they can be a little more open and yellow for the actual weekend :-) We definately liked the Blue Bird lavender roses and the Bridal White white roses :-) We may also have to have some Lavonne lavender because they don't have blue bird in the shorter rose lengths (read: the long ones are $22 for 25 roses and the short ones are $14.... for boutineers and stuff that will be cut down anyhow, that's a waste!)
* Then on Saturday, Eric and I went and started the tux ordering process. Eric even got measured :-) He's gonna wear a silver vest and bow tie, and everyone else will wear white bow ties and cumberbunds. I hope it all looks okay!
* We tried to go and look at wedding rings, but the store closed right before we got there. We kinda want to go to Runyans in Camas because that's where my engagement ring is from.
* Yesterday, Megan and I went and looked at the wedding cakes at Safeway. We decided on the Camas Safeway instead of the new Heritage Market Center Safeway because the baker at HMC had only done a few wedding cakes. This is the design we are going with:
Eric and I were successful last night - we got the guestbook script to work :-) Very exciting because now our visitors can leave us messages :-)
I'm ALMOST done with the invitation addressing :-)
We met with Pastor Lutz on sunday and got to go over the ceremony - I'm working on finding the perfect wording for it, and the best possible order. Once we get that, then I can start working on the program :-) For the program, I also need to look at the wedding poem that I wrote - Megan used it in a class, and I am thinking about putting it in the program :-) Cheesy? I'll let you all read it and see :-) I also got to do some measuring of the church dimensions - and that will let us premake some of the decorations, making it take not nearly as much time to put them up on the saturday before.
That's all for this moment, I'm sure I'll think of more later because I feel like I've accomplished some things lately LOL!
Several pieces of news -
* I got my tiara in the mail today :-) Its gorgeous! :-) <.smile.>
* I went and bought more stamps yesterday to replace the ones that the post office lost and will have to write a nasty letter to try and get my money back (at least I have stamps now!)
* I found out that my main contender for photographer isn't able to do August 13. So I'm back to the drawing board <.sigh.>
* I found out how many candles go in the candelabras - 29 (7 on each side one (2 of those) and 15 on the center one)
* Megan couldn't find the candle store at the mall. <.frustratedsigh.>
* And I fixed the voting link on the sidebar - Season fix my script errors and I'm back on the list :-)
I'm having a really hard time finding dripless candles for the candelabra. Nothing says dripless on it in the stores - we went to Michaels and Fred Meyers. There were lots of nice candles, but nothing that specifically said. And I visited a whole bunch of sites this morning and only found one that had tapers that specifically said dripless - Wick's End 10" Tapers. Hmmm, not sure where to look now....
But we did succeed in getting bubbles, curly ribbon, a thank you stamp, some floral tools, and 6 super-cool new pens just because I thought they were neato :-) It was a successful trip ;)
Okay, I made a big post about what I needed to do and blogger ate it!
I am going to Michael's today because they are having a big sale - I am getting bubbles, curly ribbon, candles for the candelabra and for the candle holders, a thank you stamp, some floral tools possibly, and maybe some more ribbon to match what I have already if they have some.
Courtney sent me a big box of candleholders - 4 tall glass/crystal ones, 4 brass ones that I might cover with tulle since silver is more my colors :-), and a dozen 3" assorted cups that would work really well for large votives :-) I already have 19 short crystal ones, and 6 cute bubble ones for short votives - I need more like this because they are so cute! :-) These will all go on reception tables
I am working on getting hotel arrangements for out of town guests, as well as trying to get back to photographers and cake people. My last major tasks :-)
I also made some revisions to the about page - a few new webrings up there :-) Eric's working on the guestbook, and we'll get that up soon :-)
I'm sure I had something else in this paragraph before i lost it the first time LOL!
So much was accomplished this weekend! My sisters Megan and Lisa came over and we put together 112 of the invitations. I think I'll have a few more to put together myself, but that was how many I got printed before leaving work. They turned out magnificent!!
We also went through my notebook again and did some brainstorming about the wedding party and activities that needed to be planned. I need more time to work on all of this!
Then I spent quite some time addressing envelopes. I'm trying a technique that I heard on one of my lists - addressing a set number a day until they are done. The invitations should go out either the end of this week or beginning of next :-) (I have 25 done!!)
I still have quite a few things to do this week, but I feel so accomplished over the weekend happenings that it doesn't seem so bad :-)
wow, lotsa money! - I found this on outlet (who has the same budget as I do) and I am just amazed. I suppose after looking at all the brides magazine, it shouldn't surprise me, but people who have $60 minuture wedding cakes for their guests are insano <.giggle.> I suppose if I was a kazillionaire, it'd be different :)
Cecily of Epiphany shares a sweet story about why she picked the wedding flower she did. What a sweet story. So I thought I'd share about my flowers. Not nearly as significant as Cecily's.... I believe the story goes like this...One day, a boy found a large patch of daisies. He wanted to give them to the girl he was with, but didn't have anything to cut them with, so he pulled the entire plant out of the ground and gave it to her that way. She laughed at him and thought that was sweet. She of course, when they got married, she had daisies as her flowers because that was the first flower she had gotten from him :-) She had littel daisies embroidered in her dress as well :-) So some of the flowers in my wedding will be daisies :-) The other flower is a lavender rose because I love them. No significance to that!! :-)
So according to WeddingChannel.com - Hot Colors, I have a hot color for the summer with my Victorian lavender dresses, right?! :-)
I made a rough sketch of how the inside of the church looks. The main aisle will be tulle-d off like this and I put the actual number of pews as there are there. The front two pews on each side will just have nice tulle bows. I'm not sure yet where the candles for the unity candle will sit.
I made some updates to the wedding pages - use the links at the bottom of this page to surf through the pages if you want to see the updates :) I'm working on the events page, and put what I had brainstormed so far up :) I also put a summary of our registry information up. Enjoy!
Okay, heres some updates:-)
Eric's parents visited and got to see all our wedding plans and stuff all over our apartment while they were here. They also got to meet my family, which went really well :-)
Prior to their coming, I finished entering my wedding list into excel. I'm getting so much closer to having a complete wedding invitation list, which is good because I need to have invitations out between the 15th and 22nd. The final draft of the invitation has been printed, and I'm working on printing the color sheets for the background so that we can do some massive cutting and tying next weekend (Megan, Lisa, and me). Between that time, I need to start addressing my envelopes. I purchased some nice gel pens yesterday that feel nice to write with, and that will help. I don't know if I'm going to write the return address on the back? probably so. I still need to do a map paper. It will have the map to the church, and a blurb about RSVP by phone at (my number) or at rsvp@love-productions.com and visit our wedding site at http://www.love-productions.com/wedding/
I started calling on photographers last week, and hopefully will have picked one by the end of next week. Or at least have it narrowed down so that we can go see the picture samples from one of them. Prices are rather expensive compared to what I was hoping. Is it possible to spend 400 or less on my pictures?
I haven't started calling on cakes yet, but I talked to one of the photographers, and she suggested Albertsons. So I'm gonna call Safeway and Albertsons this next week.
Eric's mom and me discussed the rehearsal dinner - I think that we are going to do Lasagna and salad and french bread. Eric's parents will probably use the work kitchen or my kitchen to make the lasagna ahead of time and then we'll pop it in the oven at the church. The times that Pastor Lutz suggested were do a dinner before, and then the rehersal from 8:15-9:15 and then decorate after that. Some of the decorations can be done on sunday, as well, because the wedding isn't until 4:30. I printed out a really good wedding weekend itinery that I need to look at revising for my own uses :-)
Eric's mom also liked the idea of the meatballs for the reception, and agreed to either make some and bring them with her or make them while she's here. She thinks she can get bulk vege meat for the sandwiches. I do need to find some extra hands to help with the preparing of the trays of meat, cheese, and fixings for the sandwiches. Some of the salads, we can probably buy at grocery stores. I need to make a list to talk to dad about. He knows so much better about how much we need for how many people :-)
We are supposed to have a counseling session tonight, but I haven't heard from Pastor Binus, so I'm not sure if we will. He's been gone, so its not that big of a deal if we have to reschedule :)
My tiara is on its way from Romantic Headlines. I need to call and make a payment on the dresses. I need to call and arrange for E to be measured for a tux, even thought we didn't like Mr. Formal that much.
We planned to try out flowers this coming weekend, but I think I'm gonna push it off one more weekend.
That's all for now, friends - Thanks for being patient while I gathered all this info to update you all when I had time :-)
